We were not due to be picked up for our desert camel adventure until 4:00 PM so we decided to check out the Mall of the Emirates. This was a very upscale mall with every designer you could ever think of. We went into one decorative glass store and there was nothing less than $500 US. My favorite piece was $35,000. Fun to look at but mind blowing that people in Dubai are rich enough to shop there.
Our next stop was ski Dubai where you can ski and sled when it was 115 degrees outside. Pretty mind boggling to see people going up chair lifts inside a mall.

Next we moved on to the biggest arcade I have ever seen. I can’t imagine a parent trying to get there child out of this place.

On to our night in the desert. We were driven out of Dubai about 40 miles to a “private” desert owned by some sheik. They put head dresses on us and we climbed aboard our camels. We rode about an hour through the desert where we saw Gizelles.

We ended up at a replica of a Bedouin camp where we saw a falconer hunting demonstration, got henna tattoos and were entertained by musicians and dancers. As expected, Rosemarie was part of the show. Believe it or not we all ate camel meat and it does not taste like chicken. It was more like a chewy beef stew. Not bad but not good either. An enjoyable evening spent under the stars with no electronics.
