I had ridden a camel in Dubai with the YaYa’s so I was more prepared than most. Everyone had their own camel and there were only 2 camels to each driver so it made for lots of photo opportunities. We walked thru the dunes for about 30 minutes until we got off the camels. Always a little scary when they get down on their knees. We had to walk up a huge dune to get to the top to watch the sunset. The guides were in bare feet which made it easy for them. Not so easy for us.

The first girl was from Italy and was not on our trip but she convinced us all to pose for this picture.
I am reluctantly admitting that Florida sunsets are more spectacular.

After the sunset our guide had us sit a blanket and he pulled us down the dune to the bottom just like sledding down a hill. Much, much easier than walking in the sand. When we got back to the camp there was a band to musicians to welcome us.

Notice the tray with the teacups on his head. He danced and spun around with this tray and filled tea cups and never lost a drop.

After a wonderful dinner of traditional Berber dishes (and wine) we retired to our tents. Problem was no one showed us how to turn on the propane heater. Just like the first night on safari in Africa, I slept with my clothes on. Sand and all!

Sunrise in the desert is pretty much like sunset except you have to get up early. Many guides trying to get you to pay them to take you higher in the dunes. I saw it just fine from the ground. I got up at 5:30 AM and there was no coffee available until 7:00 AM. I was pretty miserable.

After breakfast we left the camp and drove toward our next destination. We did not drive back the same way we came. Believe it or not our 2 1/2 hour drive through the desert was only 30 minutes from the main road.
