We left our hotel about 3:00 PM in 4x4s for the 2 1/2 hour ride through the Sahara to our camp. It was a long bumpy ride with several stops. Driving in the sand reminded me of driving in a snow storm before the streets are plowed. Except there are no streets in the desert. Every time we stopped for a photo op, children would come out of no where to sell their wares.

When I say there is nothing in the desert, I am not kidding. A house here and there but no stores, no gardens. Basically you are on your own to survive. I would assume that some of the people work that the hotels and tented camps around but other than that it is desolation.

We arrived at our camp in time to get settled before our camel ride. We were all given the customary mint tea as a welcome. After checking out our tent and the camp we got ready for our camel ride.

View of our camp.
The relaxing area.
The hardest beds in the world.
Dining tent.
All the amenities of home.
Ready for our camel ride to see the sunset.
