After a year of planning, it is finally happening. Since we are flying out of JFK and the uncertainty of weather in February in New York, we left a day early. Packing for this trip was a nightmare. Temperatures in Egypt range from the 50’s to the 80’s. Jordan goes down into the 30’s at night. It is like the trip that the YaYa’s took to Dubai and South Africa. 120 degrees in Dubai and 40 degrees in South Africa. Try packing for that! Unfortunately I couldn’t get everything into a carryon so hopefully my luggage will arrive the same time that I do.

Last night we spent the night in Manhattan. We Ubered from JFK into the City because we did not want to deal with luggage in the subway. We had a fabulous dinner in a little Italian restaurant called Trattoria Trecolori that was around the corner from our hotel. After dinner we walked to the Eugene O’Neill Theatre to see “The Book of Mormon.” The play was hysterical and I can understand why it won so many Tonys.

The theatre was absolutely beautiful and built in 1925. For those of you from Rochester, it is in the style of the Eastman Theatre but not as grand. The size of the theatre is like The Sharon. The ushers were relentless in stopping photography even people in the front of the house. Plans were to go to a piano bar after the theatre but it was raining.

The plane for Egypt leaves at 5:15 PM. We will be leaving for the airport shortly. Not looking forward to the 10 hour flight with no glass of wine with dinner. Unfortunately business class on Egyptair does not include lay down beds. Next stop Cairo.
