The plan was a 2:00 PM flight from Orlando with a connection in Dulles for our flight to Istanbul. I got up at 6:00 AM with a plan for a leisurely morning with a 10:00 AM pickup from Workman Transportation. I looked at my email and our 2:00 PM flight had been postponed and we would miss the connection to Istanbul! I called Peggy, who was obviously still sleeping. You would understand if you knew Peggy. A lot of scrambling and she managed to get a seat on a flight leaving at 11:45 AM. I was #1 on the standby list. The reason she got the seat was because her name was first on the ticket. Next we had to reschedule transportation to the airport. Peggy managed to get an 8:00 AM pickup. It was now 6:45 and I still needed to shower, wash my hair and finish packing. I was like a crazy woman but I was ready 15 minutes early.

It was a pretty nerve racking few hours at the airport but I got off the standby list and a seat on the plane. We both paid for First Class and are sitting in Economy but I am just happy that we had a seat. We will fight with United about a refund when we get home. Travel is never easy.

Lunch in the restaurant of the United Polaris Club at Dulles Airport. Gourmet food and all the wine you can drink. I am one happy girl and very relieved to be here.
Vegetarian Stuffed Cabbage. To die for. Not kidding.
Can’t even describe how good this was. A miniature hot cast iron skillet.

We will be boarding our overnight flight soon to Istanbul.

So exciting – but, as Mike says, travel involves “too many opportunities for stress”. I could never do it! I’m getting my knees replaced this year… maybe I’ll find more courage after that. Safe journeys, Sally!

Oh my! Have gone that route. Flight to a Vancouver last summer mechanical problems and we had booked First Class 10 months earlier. I was in main cabin. It’s not fun but glad you are on the plane! It sometimes challenges our ability to turn direction on a dime but we do it!
