Right now I am sitting in Business Class in Doha, Oman waiting for our flight to Nairobi sipping champagne. I now understand why this airline (Qatar) is #1 airline in the world. Our overnight flight was something out of the “Rich and Famous.” We had our own “rooms” with doors that closed. There were 14 flight attendants for business class that really meant 1 flight attendant for every 2 rooms. We were provided with pajamas, slippers and, of course, the high end cosmetics. I went to the rest room and when I came back my bed was made up. Believe it or not, I slept for 8 hours straight. Any of you who know me well, knows that 4 or 5 hours is the max for me.

The only blip was that they didn’t have my order for vegan meals even though I checked on my reservation the day before and it was there. Right now there are 4 people running about trying to figure out what to feed me. I just might need to “eat” liquid refreshments. The chef ended up making me a special meal of squash soup with no dairy and falafel with rice pilaf, broccolini along with other exotic vegetables. Who knew they had a chef and a kitchen on board?

Getting off the airplane in Doha they have golf carts at the gate to take you to your next gate. On the way home we will have a 9 hour layover so we will have the time to check out the business class lounge and, of course, do some shopping.

Customs in Kenya was quite the experience. They take your picture plus your fingerprints of both hands, That’s a new one on me.

Another thing that certainly makes Qatar Airlines #1 is their customer service. Therese, one of my travel mates, left her chargers on the plane. Her flight attendant found her when we were waiting for our luggage and told her what happened and that he gave the chargers to the ground crew. He took Therese to the person who had the chargers and she was one happy person. Talk about going above and beyond!

We got to our hotel about 2:00 AM Kenya time which is 7 hours ahead of us in Florida. Gorgeous hotel. We will be sitting by the infinity pool tomorrow.

It’s really strange having a room by myself.
At least I will have a hair dryer for the next 5 days!

We are here 2 days ahead of our travel mates so after a day of R & R we will be on our own to explore Nairobi.

Huh…Sure sounds like my last trip on Delta! (yeah, right). Have a great time. Make sure to keep an eye on Andy. If he lies down on the trip, the animals may attack!
