We have been very, very lucky in animal sightings on this trip. Some of them are pure luck but others are due to the skills of our guides. This day did not disappoint.

During this game drive we became very up close and personal with a hippo. The first pictures were taken when we first saw him in the lake. The second set was the hippo eating a little snack.

We also viewed lots of elephants in a marshy water area. Our guide told us that after elephants lose their 6 sets of molars they can no longer chew properly and digest their food. This occurs some time between age 50 and 75. At that point they move to marshy areas where they can eat wet vegetation.

Upon returning to our hotel we drove to the shoreline to see the flamingos that we could see from the deck. In addition to the flamingos we had other surprises at the shoreline.

Finally our final sunrise at this lodge before we moved onto Tarangire National Park in Tanzania.
