I know that every time I travel I say the same thing. Trip of a lifetime. That is what I feel about this trip too. It is certainly the longest. I have never been away for a whole month. We will be starting out in Malta for 5 days, flying to Sicily to learn all about the “mob” and tour places where the Godfather was filmed. Sicily (Palermo) is where my late. husband’s family was from. There is a definite distinction between being Italian and Sicilian. Sicilian first, then Italian. Then we travel by by ferry to visit Calabria and Puglia and finally to the Amalfi Coast.
My trip mates are Juanita who I work very closely with in the Creative Emporium, Laura from California who I traveled with to Kenya and Tanzania. I am hoping that she will return with us in two years when I take Braydon for his graduation present from high school. Then there is Teri Alexander who I have known probably the longest. She is both a member of the Boomer Babes and the Habitat Club. Finally, Janice who is a member of the Habitat Club. She recently moved from The Villages to return to Long Island.
Right now we are sitting in the business class lounge at Newark Airport waiting for our plane to Munich. Looking forward to cooler weather of 70 degrees and sunny in Malta. The next 5 days we will be based in the City of Valletta, that is a world UNESCO Heritage site.
