Tonight will be the first time we are only spending 1 night at a place. All others have been three. As it was a very long drive we stopped in the little seaside town of Pizzo. Just like out of a picture postcard.

Upon our arrival we stopped at a restaurant called Dante that is famous for this ice cream concoction. Basically they take a scoop of vanilla ice cream, make a hole in it and fill it with come kind of chocolate syrup. Cover that with more ice cream. Roll it into a ball and then roll the ball in cocoa powder. Refrigerate for 45 minutes. Then enjoy!

We spend several hours wandering around the town shopping and finally eating lunch.

Back on the road to Sila National Park. The ride was filled with long winding switchbacks with beautiful yellow flowers called broom. The park is a UNESCO site and believe it or not, the air has been certified as being the clearest in Europe.

This is my room in the chalet that we stayed at. It is a ski resort in winter and water sports in summer. The restaurant had interesting contemporary decor mixed with huge rustic floor lamps made out of driftwood branches. Before we had dinner we took a boat ride around the lake and enjoyed a glass of wine and appetizers,

We returned to the hotel for dinner that left a lot to be desired. They obviously make special meals for me and many times it is better than what everyone else is being served. On this trip there is one vegan (me), 2 people allergic to shell fish, and 2 vegetarians who will eat only fish. Of the four course meal that night, all I ate was the lentil soup. The appetizer plate that should have been hot was cold from the refrigerator. The tofu that they served for dinner had no seasoning or marinade and was completely inedible. The first bad meal of the trip. Off to bed to get ready to leave this resort so we could move on to Pollino National Park to hike up a mountain
