For my birthday this year my friends “Bad Sally” Palmer and Therese Laskowsky decided that it would be great to spend it in Key West. Sally and I have never been so it should be a really good time. We are sitting at the airport in Orlando waiting to board the plane. The plane is fuchsia pink with a flamingo on the tail. It is also a prop plane and there are 5 steps to climb to enter the plane. Should be a very interesting flight.

There was more room on this plane than a Southwest flight and the landing was smoother. There were so few people on the plane that everyone had to move around to distribute the weight on the plane.

This picture was on the back of the door in the women’s restroom. Really cracked me up.

Our accommodations are very nice. Three bedrooms with three baths. Sally and I are upstairs and Therese is downstairs so she doesn’t have to do the stairs. We are away from downtown so we have to Uber everywhere. You can rent a golf cart for $100 a day that will go 35 miles per hour. It is very scary watching these people drive golf carts when they have no idea what they are doing.

This was my first meal in Key West – a roasted cauliflower wrap. It was great. We did lots of walking on Duval Street and eventually ended up at the pier for Mohitos and Margaritas. Having a great birthday!

We finished the evening watching the sunset at Mallory Square and dinner at a Sicilian restaurant. Just as good as any meal that I had in Sicily.

Tomorrow we are going to do the on and off Trolley Tour and stop and visit Ernest Hemingway’s house (and of course, more mohitos) and see more of the history of Key West rather than just bars and shopping.
