Even though the temperature here is just as hot as in The Villages there is a constant breeze because you are surrounded by water so you are never really hot. We all got up little late this morning (Sally and me). Therese needed a little nudging to get out of bed because she usually sleeps to noon.

The plan today was to take the Hop On and Off Trolley around the island. The history of the island was very fascinating and ranged from pirates to the southern White House where Harry Truman resided. Of course, we had to get off the trolley at the southern most point of the US. There was a very long line to get to the point where you could stand next to the buoy and have your picture taken. What surprised me the most was there was no cutting in line and the people in the group behind you took your picture. I have never seen such well behaved tourists.

Our next stop was lunch at the Schooner’s Wharf. Funny story about this. We were sitting at a restaurant called the Boat Shop planning on eating there. We got a text from Rosemary Lynch telling us that Denny suggested we go to Schooner;s Wharf for lunch. He described it as old Florida. I googled it and it was right next door to where we were. We told our waitress that we had changed our mind about lunch and were just going to finish our drinks. Off we went to Schooner’s Wharf and what a funky place it was.

We had a great lunch and many margaritas while we listened to live music and enjoyed the gorgeous view. A little bit of retail therapy before we ubered back to the condo and a little nap.

This little vacation has been all about eating and drinking and probably not in that order. There are over 300 bars in Key West. Oh to be 40 years younger! Or maybe not!
