Our guide suggested to us going to a restaurant that was up the mountain from Maiori in Tramonti that had a cooking class. We all thought that 110 euros was a little expensive but why not! The setting was absolutely spectacular.

Before we started the gnocchi making we had to go to the garden with the owner of the restaurant to pick the vegetables for the salad.

With all the vegetables we picked for the salad.

Back to the gnocchi making process but first we had to drink limoncello spritzers. It is much easier to laugh at your self when you are under the influence of alcohol.

Gnocchi making table.
I have no idea how I got picked to make the dough.
Making dough snakes.
Now you cut the dough snakes into pieces and then you roll them on a fork. We had lots of laughs about making the gnocchi. Some of mine looked like fusilli but after doing about 50 of them they began to look like they should. Can’t say the same about some of my trip mates.
Cooking the gnocchi

This is the finished product. Normally they add mozzarella to the sauce but they did not do that for mine. Interesting thing about making sauce in Italy. You either use onions or garlic in the sauce, not both. They do not use spices in their sauce like oregano like we do. Tomatoes, salt, olive oil and either onions or garlic. They clearly do not use garlic like we do.

Best gnocchi ever. Very happy that we were given the recipe.
The wonderful salad we helped pick.

A very fun evening with lots of laughs and great food.
