One of the only things about this day was the end of the day when we saw our first view of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

We flew back into Nairobi and climbed into jeeps for our long ride to Amboseli near the Tanzanian border. Note to self: the correct way to say Tanzania is with the accent on the “za.” Who knew. The road we were on is basically a truck route from Uganda through Nairobi and onto Tanzania. We are not talking expressways here but rather single lane roads over hilly terrain. Passing is constant even with oncoming traffic. I slept most of the way just so I didn’t have to watch.
There were many interesting sights along the way. We have to deal with bicycles in The Villages. Here you have to deal with this:

We stopped at a market along the road filled with stands selling the same wares. Our guide spoke to one of the stall owners who said that on a good day she can make $80 a day US. Hard to believe that when you are in competition with 100’s of other stalls.

If you can’t get people into your booth, you hit the streets!

We finally arrived at our hotel after a long bumpy dusty ride. These “dust devils“ are everywhere.

This is our home for the next two nights. Unfortunately there are many monkeys and baboons running around on the tin roof. I am hoping that they sleep at night. Tomorrow a day in the life of the Maasai Tribe.
